Elaine
Larson, RN, Ph.D., FAAN, CIC is currently the Professor of Pharmaceutical and Therapeutic Research, Columbia University School of Nursing. Her career has included the positions of Dean, Georgetown University School of Nursing, Associate Director of Nursing, Georgetown Hospital, along with the Nutting Professor of Clinical Nursing and Director of the Center for Research at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. Dr. Larson has received a baccalaureate and Masters of Arts in nursing, Masters degree in microbiology, and Doctorate in epidemiology. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing, Infectious Disease Society of America, New York Academy of Medicine, and the Institute of Medicine. Dr. Larson is currently the Chair of the CDC's Healthcare Infection Control Practices Advisory Committee (HICPAC), Editor of the American Journal of Infection Control, and a liaison member of the Board of Scientific Counselors, National Center for Infectious Diseases, CDC. She has published more than 190 journal articles, 4 books, and a number of book chapters in the areas of infection prevention, epidemiology, and clinical research. As a consultant in infection control and nursing, Dr. Larson has traveled to international settings such as Kuwait, Jordan, Singapore, Australia, Ghana, Peru, Brazil, Spain, France and Egypt. |
